Pay more, get less. And since I'm looking down the pike at having to buy more milk when we go off of formula for the baby, let's just say, I'm not too thrilled by this new trend.

Milk
Another sign of the shitty financial/economic times is of course the dairy industry. It's not new news they've been hurting. However, my trip to the grocery store yesterday just pissed me off. Background: last week, Sean was at the store and called to ask if we needed milk. As we're on the phone he noticed that the expiration date was approaching pretty quickly and there wasn't a huge stock of the type that we buy (Organic reduce fat). I said let's hold off on getting more milk, we have enough, and the store should be getting in a new shipment soon if they are that low. Yesterday: our milk is now on sale from the outlandish $6.49 to $4.99, but same stock and same expiration dates as last week when Sean was there. What is this I see next to my usual gallon? A new sleeker package, that is smaller. Yes, our milk is no longer being sold by the gallon, but rather by the 3 quarts or for a better translation, 3/4 of a gallon. Is the price reduced by 1/4? Let me chuckle out loud and say no, it is reduced approximately $0.50.

Amy do you know you can freeze milk? We get it from Coscto or safeway when it is on sale and freeze it. The carton will expand, but it thaws normally and tastes the same. You just have to use it one week after you open it this way!
