Trial and error

That's how parenting works, I think, through trial and error. So far, I think our errors are at a minimum, but I'll have to ask the baby when he's old enough. For about a week now we've been battling a bout of sleep regression with the baby. This means where he finally started to sleep through the night, he went back to waking up at midnight and 3am, this is not good for when the alarm goes off now at 5am. We have been blaming teething as the culprit, but there's no solid evidence yet that is the cause, no inflammation, and no teeth. At the same time this sleeping issue has been going on, I've also noticed that our beloved SwaddleMe blanket has been getting too small. This blanket saved me and gave us so many more hours of sleep, I was ready to marry it also! Of course, it took me almost 2.5 months to realize they come in different sizes and do go up to a size Large. That said, baby is outgrowing blankie means he is getting big and can Houdini his way out. So when having him sleep in bed with me didn't even work, or nursing him at night didn't work, we thought, let's try one of those other blankies that have been too big, and do the old traditional swaddle. He slept from 9:15 to 4am last night! It was awesome! Yes, I got up at midnight and 3am to check on him, but he really slept again until 4, then I fed and changed the dipey, and he was out until we had to wake and dress him for the day! So, I am hoping today shapes up to be a better day in terms of my mood with "all" that sleep I got! And, just in case, we're now stocked up on teething toys and Baby Orajel!

  1. Have you tried the sleepsack from Halo? I think the website for them is halosleep.com but i know you can find them on amazon too. They are great and much better quality than the swaddleme. they come in lots of sizes and fabrics that make them even safer for baby...take a look at them...we wouldn't sleep without them!
