Possibly winding down on the breastfeeding. It seems that 'Lil D is growing so dig dang fast that I have become inefficient at feeding him solely. This weekend he's been super cranky on and off, and we deduced it down to being hungry, even after nursing. So...I am possibly unable to keep up. We've supplemented with formula a bit more than we have had to. We even introduced rice cereal for the first time yesterday. Big day! He actually took to it pretty well. The spoon I thought would be challenging, but not so much it turns out. Sure, he wore a lot of it, but he got a good taste in as well. So this may be a new daily occurrence for a while. I hate the thought of all the crying to be because he was hungry, but better we find out that is what it is and fix it ASAP. I am of course not giving up on the breastfeeding. I'll pump when I can, and he can nurse before going to bed as well as during the night if and when he wakes up. As long as I can produce something, I will use it. I just think my little man is growing so fast my body wasn't ready for that.
Other news. Grandpa (my dad) is in town for the week. Unfortunately his wife was unable to come out after all, so he's here alone and staying with us and soaking up the little guy as much as he possibly can. The fact that we are having to supplement feedings more this week comes in handy for grandpa as he can take part in the feedings. Was this planned behind my back? ;-)
New Year's eve is in a few days. Our plans keep going back and forth. We usually attend a party put on by family friends who always rent out a local bowling alley and do everything up over the top, just fun for all ages, except infants who go to bed around 8:30. So, we will see. If we don't go, my dad likely will anyways. Sean and I would love to go, but it's hard to mess up the little ones schedule even for a night. Just in case we've got some libations on stand-by. Yes, being responsible really takes a tole on the social scene.
Christmas was awesome this year. Sean got me a beautiful peridot ring (my birthstone) with white gold an diamonds, peridot and silver earrings, topaz and silver earrings, an electric wine opener, an Ed Hardy watch, a new coat, a coffee pod holder, and I'm sure a few more things I'm forgetting. 'Lil D got a Jumparoo and some super sweet Adidas track suits as well as lots of other clothes from us and the grandparents.
All in all, 2008 was an aesome year, especially from August 19th and on.
Baby is awake so I must end this abruptly.
Just in case, wish everyone a very very Happy New Year!
Sounds like you had an awesome Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI have to admit I LOL-ed when I read about the breastfeeding. Remember when we watched Bringing Home Baby this summer and tsk-tsked those women that stopped breastfeeding? We weren't gonna be like that for SURE. We were going to do things the RIGHT way. Things certainly look different on this side of it, don't they? :)
Yay on the rice cereal! BIG BOY!!!
